New York Comic Convention gaming pavilion to feature live 3D animated performance
New York, NY: The New York Comic Convention (Javits center, February 24-26) will feature the usual panel discussions and autograph opportunities, but one show stands out among the rest of the comic related events: a live 3D animated talk show.
This year’s convention will include a gaming pavilion, complete with an Xbox 360 and the handheld consoles from Sony and Nintendo to test-drive. The pavilion also includes a theater where visitors will experience a new talk-show created entirely within a computer game.
TrashTalk with ILL Will, a comedy talkshow that pokes fun at the world of gaming and internet culture from the inside, is the latest machinima offering from Brooklyn-based ILL Clan Studios. Machinima (machine + Cinema) is the low-budget technique of using video game technology to create original animation. The ILL Clan helped form this nascent genre when they started making machinima in 1998. By modifying existing game engines, the group has created a sort of animated virtual television studio that allows them to create and record animation in real-time, allowing for characters that can interact with a live audience as well as lightning fast production times.
The live performance will take place on Saturday, February 25th in the gaming pavilion. It will feature show host ILL Will interacting with the audience and includes a quiz show featuring them as well. Specific times to be announced.
