The latest Hot Fix (2010.07.21) from Autodesk for Autodesk® 3ds Max® 2011 and Autodesk® 3ds Max® Design 2011 software includes fixes for issues with stability and performance. Specific areas addressed are, Biped, Autodesk® FBX®, Quicksilver, and Gamma.
Chaos Group officially announced the release of their new Fluid Dynamics plugin Phoenix FD plugin for 3ds Max. A unique approach was taken when developing the Phoenix FD simulation core. Aggressive internal optimizations allow for reduced calculation times while keeping the whole simulation physically accurate. This allows some additional processes like pressure decay, thermal radiation cooling and mass-temperature relation to be simulated.. Chaos Group are also offering promotional pricing until September 10th.
Stone Placement Tools 1.0 is a maxscript for 3ds max which allows you to create procedural meshes on the fly. With Stone Placement tool you can create stone walls, quad stones pavements and irregular stone patterns for both walls and floors. The script automatically bakes normal maps, AO maps and height maps for realtime use. It’s suitable for both realtime and production.

release of Shade, immediately available, which adds several new features that will be incorporated into to the 2011 official release.
* Private Shade X Community. Shade X 2010 users have access to a private forum and mailing list that includes professional artists, Mirye staff and Shade engineers.
Current users of Shade 10 Designer or Standard can upgrade to Shade X Standard or Shade X Professional. Shade 10 Professional users upgrade to Shade X Professional only. The Shade X program starts at $149. Shade is available on Windows and Mac OS X and supports both 32 bit and 64 bit operations.
Shade Unplugged is immediately available for Shade X customers.
